The Academy is run under the auspices of the Asthma, Allergy and Lung Biology Division of KCL (part of the MRC and Asthma UK Centre in Allergic Mechanisms of Asthma), a partnership between the MRC, Asthma UK, Imperial College London, Kings College London (KCL) and partner NHS Trusts).

Executive Committee

Tak Lee   Professor Tak Lee is Director of MRC & Asthma UK Centre in Allergic Mechanisms of Asthma at King’s College London and Imperial College and Asthma UK Professor of Allergy & Respiratory Medicine/Hon. Consultant Physician, King’s College London School of Medicine, Guy’s Hospital. He was recently awarded the prestigious William Frankland Award for distinguished services to clinical allergy by the BSACI and is the previous recipient of the Jack Pepys’ award for scientific achievement

Adam Fox   Dr Adam Fox is a Consultant in Paediatric Allergy at the Children’s Allergy Service at St Thomas’ Hospital and Honorary Senior Lecturer at King’s College London. Adam has a long standing interest in medical education and is the only UK allergist who is also an accredited member of the Higher Education Academy. He is also a commissioning editor for the Educational Case Series in Pediatric Allergy & Immunology and a council member of the BSACI. Adam will act as the Director of the Allergy Academy and have dedicated time to develop the educational programme. He will also act as the primary point of contact for our industry partners.

Gideon Lack   Prof Gideon Lack is Professor of Paediatric Allergy at KCL and head of the Children’s Allergy Service at the Evelina Children’s Hospital. He is an international expert in food allergy as in principal investigator of the LEAP study – an interventional study looking at strategies to prevent the development of peanut allergy.

Chris Corrigan   Prof Chris Corrigan is a Professor in the Department of Asthma, Allergy & Respiratory Science at Guy’s, King’s & St. Thomas’ School of Medicine, King’s College, University of London. He particular research interests include therapy resistant and severe phenotypes of asthma. He also leads one of the UK’s largest allergen immunotherapy services at Guy’s Hospital and has an international reputation for his research in this area.

George Du Toit   Dr George Du Toit is a Consultant in Paediatric Allergy at the Children’s Allergy Service at the Evelina Children’s Hospital. He runs sub-specialist clinics in both Drug Allergy and Chronic Urticaria and is a co-investigator on the LEAP study. George has already established a highly successful series of specialist seminars in partnership with EAACI.

The executive committee is also supported by a dedicated Administrator (Sandra Hobbs) and by an extensive Management Board which includes representatives of a variety of specialities related to Allergy such as Clinical Immunology, Dermatology and Gastroenterology from within our organisation together with representatives from Allied Professions including nursing and dietetics as well as external representatives from primary and secondary care and an international representative with a particular interest in Medical Education.
