Our educational events draw on both our own faculty as well as experts from around the country. Our events are accredited for CPD points and many are endorsed by the BSACI and EAACI.

Practical Paediatric Allergy

Date: Monday, March 8th – Wednesday, March 10th 2010
Audience: Allergy Specialists, Dieticians, GPs, Hospital Doctors, Nurses, Paediatricians

This three day intensive course is now in its third year having run since 2008 with considerable success.  This is the only course of its kind, designed for clinicians who work with allergic children but have not been able to access formal education or training. This course does not involve academics presenting their own research findings. It is practically focused and led by practising doctors working in the field of clinical allergy.

The primary aims of the course are to provide:
• an introduction to the immunology of allergy with emphasis on clinical relevance
• an understanding of the spectrum of childhood allergic disease and its presentation
• evidence-based strategies for diagnosis & treatment
• demonstrations of practical skills such as allergy testing and provocation challenges
• a foundation for clinical research or service development

This course receives CPD accreditation from the RCPCH and is endorsed by both BSACI and EAACI.

Advances in Asthma Care
(in partnership with Asthma UK)

Date: Tuesday, 13th July2010

Whilst guidelines have helped improve the care of asthma, many patients still present a number of different challenges. In everyday practice, many factors, such as adherence, co-morbid allergic disease and environmental exposures may all effect how effective recommended treatments are. The last few years have also seen a number of new treatment modalities such as Sublingual Immunotherapy and Anti-IgE become available yet they are still to find their place in treatment.

This one day seminar will bring together many of the UK’s leading specialists to provide a practical, cutting edge programme to help ensure you are providing the most up to date advice to your patients. The morning session will deal with more generic issues whilst the afternoon will be split between those who look after predominantly adults or those with more paediatric involvement.

This course would be suitable for anybody who sees patients with asthma in their
day to day practice. It will be of particular benefit to respiratory/general physicians, Paediatricians, GPs, specialist nurses, as well as speciality registrars.

CPD accreditation from the RCP/RCPCH has been applied for.

In recognition of its educational value, the course has been endorsed by the British Society of Allergy and Clinical Immunology.

Immunotherapy Practical Workshop

Date:  Tuesday 5th October 2010
Audience: Allergy Specialists, GPs, Hospital Doctors, Paediatricians

There has been a huge growth of interest in this emerging area of allergy treatment but the biggest barrier to the development of new services is the inability of potential practitioners to obtain hands on experience in its use. This workshop will cover generic aspects of immunotherapy in a morning session (including mechanisms, safety and service development issues) and then split into two groups to cover practical aspects on Adult and Paediatric practice.
