Clinical Nurse Specialist in Paediatric Allergy (Evelina London Children's Hospital)

Katherine qualified as a children’s nurse at the Nightingale Institute in 1998. She worked at St Thomas’s hospital initially before moving on to a ward sister post then community children’s nursing. It was in this role that she led on the development of an at home acute asthma service and developed an interest in asthma and allergy.    

She joined the Evelina allergy service in 2013 and currently works as a Clinical Nurse Specialist. She has experience in nurse led allergy services, food and drug allergy, pollen and venom immunotherapy. Katherine has recently completed an allergy masters at Southampton University. 

Katherine is a member of the BSACI and regularly teaches on allergy focused courses as well as being a co-director on the allergy academy ‘allergy in practice’ course. She has twice been nominated and shortlisted for the Guys and St Thomas’s hospital specialist nurse of the year.

Paediatric Allergy Advanced Nurse Practitioner

 

Rebecca Batt began her career in allergy in 2007 when she became a Paediatric Allergy Clinical Nurse Specialist at King’s College Hospital, London. She ran nurse led outpatient and immunotherapy clinics and was responsible for all the food and drug challenges. She provided teaching and support for inpatients, ED and the community. She gained the MSc (Allergy) from Imperial College, London in 2011. Rebecca regularly speaks at study days and conferences and has published articles in nursing journals. Her special interests lie in anaphylaxis and patient education. She is now a Paediatric Allergy Advanced Nurse Practitioner at the Evelina Children’s Hospital.

Consultant Paediatric Allergist in Children's Allergy Service at Guy's & St Thomas's Hospitals

Dr Tom Marrs is a Consultant in Paediatric Allergy working in the Children’s Allergies Department at St Thomas Hospital. Tom is also the director of the Allergy Academy. Tom read Medicine, Psychology and Medical Law at Clare College, Cambridge, before completing his clinical training at St Bartholomew’s and Royal London Medical School.

In 2011, Tom joined the team running the Enquiring About Tolerance (EAT) Study which investigated whether the early introduction of allergenic foods may prevent the development of food allergy. His research investigates how the microbiome influences the development of allergic disease. After his four years as Clinical Lecturer, he is now developing new initiatives within the Allergy Academy.
