The Allergy Academy is excited to confirm Dr Philippe Eigenmann as our Danone Baby Nutrition Keynote Lecturer at the 6th Annual Food Allergy Study Day on Thursday 26th April 2012. Danone are kindly sponsoring this lecture about the Future of Food Allergy enabling us to invite this highly acclaimed, world renowned allergist to come and talk to us.
Dr Eigenmann is a pediatrician and allergist trained in Switzerland and in the USA (Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore). He is currently head of Pediatric Allergy at the University Hospital of Geneva Switzerland. His main focus of research is food allergy with several ongoing studies, both clinical and in the laboratory. He is currently section editor in Pediatric Allergy and Immunology and in the Editorial Board of Allergy. In addition to his scientific activity, he has been the chair of the European Academy of Allergology and Clinical Immunology (EAACI) section on Pediatrics from 2003 to 2007, and is member of the EAACI Executive Committee (2009-2011 term). Dr Eigenmann is chair of the EAACI annual meeting 2012 in Geneva. He is also secretary of the EAACI-Clemens von Pirquet Foundation, a European foundation promoting research and education in pediatric allergy and immunology. Within the activity of the Foundation, he coordinates iPAC, the international pediatric allergy and asthma consortium. He is also the president of the Swiss Society for Allergology and Immunology for the period 2011-2013.

NHS Choices and talkhealth have teamed up with patient support charity Action Against Allergy and The Allergy Academy to present an ‘Online Clinic on Food Allergy’ from 21 – 27 February 2012.
The clinic will be hosted on all talkhealth sites, talkhealthpartnership.com, with leading food allergy experts on hand throughout the whole of the week to answer your questions. You will be able to communicate directly with the experts who include Dr Adam Fox, Dr Helen Brough, Dr Rubaiyat Haque and Dr Stephen Till.

Professor Tak Lee Retires
Professor Tak Lee is retiring this month. He is one of the Directors of the King’s College Allergy Academy. Professor Tak Lee became the Asthma UK Chair of Allergy and Respiratory Medicine in 1988 and the inaugural director of the MRC - Asthma UK Centre in 2005.
He is also an honorary consultant physician and allergist to the Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust. He is a Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences and has received many awards for his scientific achievements and services to clinical allergy. We wish him the very best for his retirement.
